Race, Culture and Ethnicity

The Race, Culture and Ethnicity Special Interest Group offer The Person Centred Association's members a space to be able to respectfully explore and discuss how race, ethnicity and culture affects all aspects of professional work with clients.

Previously called the BAME SIG the group has an underpinning belief that equality is a fundamental aspect of the work that we do and for that reason new members of any racial, ethnical or cultural background are invited to join the group.

Working from a place of respect, we seek to understand how race, ethnicity and culture impact the lives of counsellors, clients, the relationship between the two and the entire profession. Representation, discrimination and accessibility are considered, as well as exploring our own prejudices and assumptions. Together, we are changing the conversation of race culture and ethnicity in counselling.

A facilitator is needed for this group. Please contact admin@the-pca.org.uk if you are interested.
